Plopu Camp 2012 (Plopu 28)

For sure many of you have asked yourselves whether Plopu Camp takes place or not this year.

2011 has been a year in which many of you wanted to participate. As you may well know Plopu 27 was shorter and between very close friends who stood together in front of God for an answer regarding the future of this camp. For all of you out there who love this camp ... this masterpiece of Daddy, we have some news which we think that will bring joy to your hearts: Plopu camp WILL CONTINUE ... IT WILL STILL TAKE PLACE! ... and in 2012 we will have the 28th edition.

Details about the theme, organisational details and the team that supports this year's camp are still on the anvil, but will become available as soon as we have them ready.

The most important feature of this year's camp is that IT IS OPEN FOR EVERYONE WILLING TO PARTICIPATE!

The single detail that we can provide at this time is regarding the period of time in which we want to organise the camp: 29th of July until 4th of August.

Until then some can say that there is still a lot of time ... and that all the pieces of the puzzle can and will be put together, but for all of you who have already organised or been involved in preparation of similar events ... well, you know that time flies pretty fast and the amount of work is huge.

For all of you who so far have been involved in organising, supporting and taking care of this work ... WE THANK YOU and we invite you to continue to be close and support this awesome camp. You can still do this at Plopu 28.

For all the others who may have been at Plopu once or twice ... we thank you for your choice then and we invite you again alongside us ... at Plopu 28. Everyone willing to participate can contact us via email or via short comment on this post and we will provide you more information.

Plopu 27 ... seen by Mike (Misu)!

Even though Plopu 27 is over for some time now ... because I was asked ... and because I have promised ... here I am with a few words about this year’s edition. As you already know ... as you have already read on the Plopu site and on some of our blogs ... Plopu 27 was a little bit different edition. In what way? Well ... first it lasted only 4 days, it was invite only ... and ...it had an unusual theme: „Focus”.

Why took me a while to place my thoughts „on paper” (even if its only virtual one)? Honestly I could have written a few words ... at a short while when I was back home ... BUT ... I wanted to read and re-read some of the things that I have written during those 4 days, I wanted to look deeper ... that secret whisper ... HIS focus ... on what has happened ... on what will happen from now on. I was asked by some persons about how it was ... how many there were ... if it was worth the trouble of going there, and looking at these questions I could have been tempted to answer ... evasively or to give „the classic” answers :”Good”, „Enough people” or „I think so, yes”. Maybe this is the main reason because of which I didn’t write a single word in the first days when I was back.

Because ... DADDY doesn’t want us to be superficial, He doesn’t want us light-weighted (and try to understand that it is not about pride or other super-spiritual things) ... I decided to „walk deeply” on „the road” of those days ... on a mental, on a soul and on a spiritual level.

It would be a complete madness to say that I didn’t feel a powerful emotion or why not ... a huge knot in my throat and a big void in my stomach ... when little by little ... „the natural obstacles” of the mountains opened a such familiar road. I didn’t expect ... to see a large number of cars and tents ... in my thoughts there weren’t questions like ... where will I place my tent? ... what surprises will I have reserved? ... who will I see again? or what new persons will I meet? ... None of this ... But another thing ... the question that was „obsesively” on my mind ... when the green pasture was unfolding under my eyes ... was „What's next?” What will happen after this?”

From the first minute there, I had the challenge of doing a new thing ... and with the help of Kos and Laura ... we managed (something that I thought I would not do) to raise our tent.

I (we) were looking down the road ... night came ... we could see a car passing by and we thought ... well is somebody else coming?, who could it be?, will they stop here? ... at us? And we were (I don't know if all of us or only some) a little bit disapointed when the lights of the cars went away further from the place where they should make a „hard right” over the bridge of the camps entrance. Finally ... a word said, I think by Laura (if I remember corectly) summarised the things so simply but nevertheless interesting: „ ... at Plopu 27 the people that should have been present were present ... no more ... no less.”

Honestly I think that each and every one of us have asked deep down in those 4 days ... why are WE there, why us ... what plan has our DADDY got for us ... how and if there will be a Plopu 28 ... and if there will be ... what and how will it be then?.

Of course that we had (as usual) the morning devotional as it was on all other years ... biblical study (although much more personal and more on an aplicable part this time) ... discutions on different themes ... and of course ... DADDY.

This time we didn’t have a special day on Thursday ... but we had a unique Saturday.

But, above all those things ... lots and lots of moments ... in which I’ve had the opportunity to talk „face to face” with DADDY ... and lots of blessed moments with each other.

I had the opportunity of meeting special people, people that had felt my heart like it was theirs ... like me ... like my DADDY ... people which by their words ... by their prayers were a true balm, a real blessing for me.

I glanced the camp ... Ilooked at the place ... and had an empty spot in my heart ... I felt a void in my soul ... because of the fact that physically one person that had a great influence on my life with his advice, guidance and his thoughts for the past 2 years was missing ... was not there. But even if he was missing (physically) ... I (we) knew that he was with us in spirit ... he’s praying ... and he thinks on all of us ... and that he asks DADDY to give us the vision, the FOCUS about the way of doing things in the future.

I asked for wisdom and strength ... light and a possibility to carry on this legacy ... this „investment” of God's heart ... and our hearts.

I’ll never stop praying for wisdom, guidance so that I can support ... what ... „my dad” ... started, constructed, invested ... and which now stands like a huge and awesome challenge in front of me ... in front of all the people that love „Plopu – the spot where God touches you”.

I looked at those moments as crucial moments ... moments of maximum importance ... moments in which like the disciples ... we felt abandoned ... and lost ... not knowing which road we must take and follow ... how everything would countinue. In those moment ... the faith, the balance and the constancy must be and remain strong ... in this kind of moment you and I have to raise up and say: „Here I am, send me!”, in this kind of moments we must not (ever, ever) forget that DADDY’s in control and has all the means necessary to keep investing in a work that He started ... and which is dedicated to HIM alone. Maybe on some of the moments ... I had the impresion of distressing ... empty ... desert ... but this kind of feelings were present also in the life of others a long long time ago. What followed for them ... an extraordinary adventure ... What’s next for us: ... a new road ... Where to? ... To the riches of His grace! How? ... In the most unusual ways possible.

I wanna take this opportunity and thank Liviu and Adi for the fact that they accepted us (me and Kostinush) as a part of the Plopu family ... then to Cos, Rebe, Crissu and Rub, Laura (my dear littl' sis!) ... and I pray for each and everyone that was present at Plopu 27 that DADDY may give the necessary guidance ... for the future involvement in this work (this precious work) ... and also for HIM to place each and everyone of us on the perfect spot and place in what is to come.

Be blessed and ... SEE YOU AT ... PLOPU 28! Until then we need your support ... in prayers ... in fulfilling ... for continuing an extraordinary vision.

Plopu 27 ... seen by me ... or better said lived by me. I had special moments, special days ... days with lots of emotional load, sadness and insecurity. To be honest I've given a lot of thought whether I should go to Plopu 27 or not, but one day I felt something inside my heart and I became aware that God will be upset if I don't go. While on the road and even there, a question was constantly on my mind: "What do you want of me and from me regarding this?" What's my place here because I cannot see what You can do to build somethin' new on something so painful? I arrived at that special place called Plopu Camp and everything was so painful, even the grass on which I stepped ... it was so hard for me to get over this feeling. I looked around me and I saw my friends experiencing the same feeling ... hopeless, disoriented ... and then I realised that I wasn't the only one feeling that. That moment something awoke inside me and I knew that I have to do somethin' to get out of that mood. That moment I have seen a path before me still unknown to me, but it wasn't a closed road ... for I could see the path unfolding. I felt the touch of God in my soul and I believe that through that I had the power to comfort the others, because we managed to smile, to make plans for the future, to think about that ... we managed to gather the strenght and the courage to stay in fasting and prayer before God and ask HIS vision over the future of that place and we were able to place our lives in the front line of this battle ... because if we want to be honest to the end ... it was and it will still be a huge battle.

Yes ... Plopu has remained the spot where God touches you, transformes you so deeply that when you get back home you hardly recognise yourself and you have to learn to live with the new you. And all of this after only staying in front of God for a few days with a clean and sincere heart.

I've left Plopu 27 with my heart full of God, but on the other side I realised something ... My DAD wanted to see my faith in grief, disapointments, disorientation and not only mine, but the faith of all the people present there, HE wanted to know my heart fully ... HE wanted to know what I will do after another disapointment in my life, after another spiritual dissatisfaction ... and it was like HE would have said to me ... "Will you still love ME if I take this away from you? What will you decide? What will you do now?" In the last 2 years I've learned to love my DAD more than ever ... even in the moments when others around looked at me to see ... if I'm still faithful to HIM or not. Now at this 27th edition of Plopu I felt like the whole heaven stopped and looked to see what I will do ... what decisions I will take now in this hour of need ... in this crucial moments.

So ... Plopu 27 was over and I came back home ... much stronger ... better equipped ... I felt like in front of DAD and the heavens a have taken the decision of my life ... to listen to HIM without asking other additional questions. Plopu 27 showed me who I was in the harshest circumstances and I remain entrusted that my DAD liked what He had seen in my heart.

So we will wait all of you at Plopu 28 ... a place decided by God to be a place dedicated to HIM and only Him ... a spot where God touches you!

I kept thinking how to put into words what I feel when I think about Plopu.

Thoughts run through my mind and sometimes it`s a long way from thought to fingertips, and other times you just put the tip of your writing tool on the paper, or you type the first words and in a blink of an eye you`ve written things you didn`t even know you had inside of you...

Plopu for me started before I knew myself, before the world knew me (those who know me know what I`m talking about) but then God already knew me... For me Plopu exists and is a part of me ever since I can remember, I can`t point a certain moment when I said: since then I've known about Plopu, since then I`ve been going to Plopu...

The situation being like this, it was a logical transition from consumer to planner, what wasn`t logical was to stop being involved, maybe with the right reasons, maybe because of some wrong impressions...

But DADDY has a special way of bringing you back where He needs you, after He takes you to certain places to learn certain lessons...

Plopu 26th meant coming back to a part of „home”... Plopu 27th meant coming back to a service/ministry that has always been on my mind and in my heart... I don`t know what will be, I just know that the near past, and the present I`m living, prepares me for a future in which the camp will go on, and not just me, there are others who will either listen the Call or choose not to hear...

Among relaxing endeavours we had some powerful „pills” of seriousness, analysis, and FOCUS...

What keeps amazing me, is that when you listen, when you want to listen from the bottom of your heart...God speaks...maybe afterwards you don`t like what you heard, but God speaks...

Plopu 27th meant a period of being outside of time, when I could shape some of my thoughts, to realize that everything until then has been planned by God, to discover how the person I was, the person I am... can change, if I want to, into the person that I can be/will be... the person God wants me to be...

And a piece of this person...through His grace...will be Plopu 28th...

God has beenthere, He has touched, He has spoken, He has been silent and He has rejoiced inthe praises we brought Him.

I havelearnt silence, I have learnt listening, I have learnt to look back and seeGod’s hand in my life. I have learnt to say “Thank You!”. From the very firstmoments I stepped on that ground at Plopu, God Himself has taught me to say“Thank You!” even for the unpleasant moments of my life, moments used by God tochisel me.

God givesvision! Just like a good friend said, we’re like that eaglet, like that babyeagle kicked out of the nest, forced to fly. He cares for the bird, He teachesthe baby eagle to fly, He teaches us to fly, to fly closer to Him. He alwayskeeps His promises!

“Father,make us available! Give us good ears to hear Your voice, so that this work ofYours may still be Your work under Your guidance and Your plan! In Jesus Name,Amen!”

De la ora acestei postări, mai sunt 250 de zile până când Plopu 27 ar trebui să înceapă.
Este ediţia care are cele mai multe necunoscute pentru mine, personal.
M-aş bucura să ştiu că sunt tineri care se roagă pentru Plopu 27, dar aş avea rugămintea să vă rugaţi şi pentru mine!
Am mare nevoie de rugăciunile voastre!

Participanţii la Tabăra Plopu, din una dintre ediţiile anterioare, de la 1 la 26, pot contribui la Colecţia Multidimedia a acesteia, un fel de cronică colectivă a acestei slujiri.
Ca atare, vă rugăm să faceţi efortul de a vă răscoli bazele de date, pentru a găsi documente semnificative: documente scrise, clipuri audio sau video, fotografii...
Prin intermediul nostru ele vor deveni publice, cu excepţia cazurilor când există motive obiective pentru a nu face aceste lucruri.

Nu am colaborat cu Securitatea!

De o bună perioadă de timp, pe bloguri sau prin alte mijloace, au apărut materiale referitoare la colaborarea cu fosta Securitate.
Vasilică Croitor a publicat recent cartea Răscumpărarea Memoriei, ce prezintă informaţii din sfera penticostală, referitoare la acest subiect.
Ultima dintre ele este Comunicatul Consiliului Pastoral al Convenţiei din SUA şi Canada.
Puteţi vedea şi imagini înregistrate de la citirea acestuia şi semnarea lui de către liderii mişcărilor penticostale din SUA şi Canada.
Nu mi-am propus să comentez aceste reacţii sau să fac aprecieri legate de subiectul în sine.
Cu toate acestea am simţit că trebuie să fac şi eu ceva public.
Pentru că am lucrat cu oamenii, în mod special cu adolescenţii şi tinerii, cred că sunt dator să le spun lor cuvintele extrase din această declaraţie, particularizate la statutul şi slujirea mea.
Subsemnatul DIMITRIE STIOPU, declar în faţa lui Dumnezeu şi conştient de consecinţele pe care această declaraţie le va avea asupra reputaţiei mele de slujitor al Evangheliei şi a eternităţii mele, că:
- Nu am semnat niciodată un document de angajare la colaborare cu securitatea comunistă;
- Nu am participat niciodată la întruniri prin care să îmi aduc aportul la acţiuni dirijate de securitatea comunistă prin care interesele bisericii, sau ale slujirii de tineret erau subminate;
- Nu am vândut niciodată un frate de credinţă, sau o persoană, prin declaraţii scrise, înregistrate sau verbale, către securitatea comunistă.

Menţionez că nu fac parte din mişcarea penticostală, nu sunt păstor (cel puţin nu formal) şi am 52 de ani.
Mai adaug că această asumare este un act de conştiinţă, nu vizează pe nimeni şi nu are nici un alt scop ascuns.
Mesajul acesta va fi publicat pe blogul personal şi pe blogul Taberei Plopu, lucrarea cu care mă identific cel mai mult.

This year's edition of Plopu Camp has had as main subject one of Paul's advice: "Be men! (1Cor. 16:13).
We've explored this subject, of the Christian character, as a journey, by faith, to God's standard.
What does God expect from us?
How does God want us to be?
He has shown us this through His Son, Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ and Him crucified, shows what He expects from us.
He's expecting us to love our enemies, to do good to those who harm us, to mediate for those who conspire against us!
Otherwise, we're only philosophers, moral people or religious indoctrinated men.
God's standard for men has not gone down and will not.
If you don't love your enemies your a Christian demagogue, or a religious militant.
Is it difficult? Is it easy?
Maybe the better question is if it is possible. Jesus proved this thing. And other followers of His did.
The Heaven's Ladder (Peter's Ladder) from 2 Peter 1:5-7 illustrates this journey ahead and upwards.
2 Peter 1:5-7 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.

Every day, at Plopu, we've hovered about the meanings of each "stair".

With God's help, Plopu Camp will reach the 27th edition next year.
In order to help those who want to participate to the next edition, we officially announce the time when it will take place.
Plopu 27 will take place between the 30 July - 06 August 2011.
Therefore, it is already the time to note this event down into your agenda, to gather some money and pray to God for the next edition of the camp!
Those who have already participated know how important inspiration and guidance are, in choosing the main subject and in the organization work.
So, we ask you to pray about it!

Plopu 26 - first oppinions

At each edition of this camp there has always been the obvious curiosity: how's it gonna be this year?
Every edition is unique by itself. So it was Plopu 26.
Here are some particularities of this edition:
- there have been participants from a great geographical area, from Bucharest to Baia Mare, from Iaşi to Anina, adding other participants from Austria and Spain
- there have been participants from a very large denominational board, and for the first time in this camp's history, no Christian denomination had the absolute majority
In spite of all that, the spirit of the camp has been one of harmony and unity, which is joyful.
This year's subject has been a challenging one: Be men!
We talked about the Christian character and the illustration of his formation has been "Peter's Ladder" (2 Peter 1:5-7), which we called "The Heaven's Ladder".
The first words of each morning have been:
Today, be men. You're a man if you love men. God is love!
The most important lesson of this week has probably been this one: God's standard for the Christian life is the love for the enemies, nothing less!
During the following weeks, I will post more materials and thoughts from this camp.
I want to thank all the participants at this camp, but also to those who have been beside us, each in his way, either with financial contributions, either through prayer or encouraging words.

Plopu 3 - Halta Teiuş

Plopu 3 a avut loc în anul 1985.
Pe vremea aceea plecam dintr-o gară numită Halta Teiuş. Ne adunam acolo cu bagajele şi călătoria se făcea cu trenul pentru că nu aveam maşini ca astăzi. În gara Armeniş coboram şi de aici mergeam până la Plopu pe jos. Erau doar 10 km. Nimeni nu se plângea, deşi fiecare ducea în spate toate bagajele. La Plopu dormeam în fân. Şi sacii de dormit erau foarte rari, aşa că păturile erau soluţia.
Ştiu cele două motive fundamentale de rugăciune din vremea de atunci:
- Doamne închide-le ochii (era vorba de Securitate)
- Doamne dă-ne vreme bună
Şi Dumnezeu chiar ne-a ascultat. Nu pentru că meritam, ci pentru că El e Dumnezeu.

După cum deja este evident, călătoria aceasta de evocare a experienţei Plopu 25 a mai avut o valenţă.
Am dorit să prezint, cât mai transparent, conceptul organizatoric al Taberei Plopu. Cei ce au vrut să afle ceva au primit răspuns. Un concept poate servi ca inspiraţie, însă nu cred că poate fi preluat mecanic. Ca atare rămân deschis la întrebări, aşa cum am fost şi până acum.
Am prezentat elementele care stau la baza identităţii taberei, precum şi structura echipei ce organizează şi administrează desfăşurarea taberei.
O identitate bine conturată şi o echipă suplă, formată din tineri bine motivaţi, sunt o premiză de neînlocuit pentru reuşita taberei.
Fără să spun cuvinte mari, nu trebuie să uităm că toate acestea sunt ca pâinile şi peştişorii care aveau nevoie de atingerea lui Isus pentru a hrăni mulţimile.
Acum puteţi viziona un clip video ce prezintă sinteza conceptului organizatoric, urmând ca în postări ulterioare să intrăm în zona desfăşurării efective a taberei.

Aşa după cum spuneam, pachetul ce dă identitatea taberei este format din:
- tema taberei, care va fi inspiraţia pentru toate materialele taberei
- drapelul taberei
- imnul taberei, care este ales în funcţie de tema taberei

De ce este aşa de importantă tema taberei?
Tema taberei este în acelaşi timp sursa de inspiraţie pentru materiale, programe şi activităţi, dar şi ideea ce trebuie permanent subliniată în decursul săptămânii de tabără.
Cu alte cuvinte, dacă ar fi să alegem un câştig al unui participant, acesta ar fi că are ocazia să îşi însuşească un adevăr, sau să îşi facă o părere despre o afirmaţie importantă din Scriptură.

Tema taberei este susţinută de subteme, sau teme zilnice. În acelaşi timp ele dau un anumit specific fiecărei zile.
Chiar şi denumirea detaşamentelor este preluată din aceste teme zilnice, teme inspirate, anul trecut, din cele două epistole ale lui Pavel către Timotei, dar şi susţinute de exemplul unor personaje biblice.
În câteva postări voi ilustra modalitatea practică de a prezenta grafic aceste teme zilnice.
Cu toate acestea aceste concepte pot fi înţelese cel mai uşor de către cei ce au participat deja la tabără..
M-aş bucura dacă aceste prezentări ar folosi şi organizatorilor de tabere creştine, sau celor ce doresc să devină organizatori de tabere creştine, indiferent de denominaţiunea din care fac parte.

Este o vorbă care spune că timpul zboară. Când eşti copil, sau adolescent nu pare aşa. Parcă ai vrea să treacă mai repede anii ca să îţi împlineşti dorinţele şi aspiraţiile.
Fie că ne dăm seama de trecerea timpului, fie nu, acest lucru este o realitate pe care o confirmă semnele: semnele de pe chipurile noastre, apariţia urmaşilor şi evoluţia lor, chiar şi fotografiile.
De aceea spune Biblia să răscumpărăm vremea pentru că zilele sunt rele.
Am găsit o fotografie frumoasă: copiii din acea fotografie sunt mari.
Trei fete sunt chiar căsătorite şi sunt şi două vlăstare (deocamdată). Prin harul Domnului la sfârşitul anului vor fi patru.
Fetiţa cea mai mică din imagine, cea cu biberonul, are acum 21 de ani.
Toţi cei din fotografie au slujit la Plopu.

În fiecare an Tabăra Plopu are un imn. Acest imn este o melodie compusă special pentru Plopu, sau deja existentă, care subliniază prin cântec tema taberei.
Având în vedere faptul că anul trecut tema taberei a fost "luptă-te lupta cea bună", alegerea a fost foarte uşoară.
Cântecul lui Cătălin şi al Ramonei Lup, Am să lupt, a fost alegerea noastră.
Mesajul său, dar şi linia melodică şi interpretarea au fost elementele determinante în alegerea sa.
Să vedem ce va fi anul acesta!

Pachetul ce dă identitatea taberei este format din:
- tema taberei, care va fi inspiraţia pentru toate materialele taberei
- drapelul taberei, a cărui istorie o voi spune în această postare

ISTORIA UNUI DRAPEL
a) Primul drapel
Greu de crezut, dar Plopu are o istorie mai lungă de 25 de ani.
Tabăra a luat fiinţă în 1983, ediţie pe care o numim Plopu 1 şi imediat de la Plopu 2, adică din 1984, Tabăra Plopu avea deja un drapel.
Am conceput acest drapel schmatic şi am rugat-o pe mama mea să îl facă din pânză. L-a făcut din pânză şi sunt sigur că l-a binecuvântat.

Astfel pe catargul taberei Plopu 2 era un drapel, cu o simbolistică evidentă.
Iubirea lui Dumnezeu, simbolizată de un inel galben, în partea de sus a drapelului, l-a dat pe Isus Hristos să se jertfească. Jertfa Lui era simbolizată de crucea roşie din centru drapelului.
Omul păcătos, simbolizat de inima neagră primeşte curăţirea prin crucea lui Hristos şi astfel devine o făptură nouă, ceea ce este simbolizat de inima albă.
Fondul drapelului era verde, ceea ce arăta nevoia de maturizare a fiecărui creştin născut din nou.
A mai rămas de atunci o fotografie alb-negru care arată drapelul pe catarg.
Deşi acum pare naiv, cu acest drapel făcut de noi şi pus pe un catarg improvizat, a însemnat foarte mult pentru participanţii de atunci. Nu mai era o simplă ieşire la iarbă verde, ci ne adunam având o ţintă clară.
În altă ordine de idei mă minunez de inconştienţa noastră. Ce făceam noi acolo era subversiv, după filozofia acelui regim. Numai că Domnul a fost cu noi.

a) Al doilea drapel

A doua formă a drapelului a apărut la Plopu 5, în anul 1985, suferind în timp adăugiri, fără însă să piardă ceva din forma iniţială.

Astfel în 1985 drapelul avea 5 culori, în benzi orizontale, după cum urmează:

Negru (păcatul)

Roşu (jerfa)

Alb (curăţirea)

Verde (creşterea)

Galben (răsplătirea)

La ediţia următoare am mai adăugat o culoare şi implicit o semnificaţie.

A apărut Albastru (creaţia), ca primă culoare.

După câteva ediţii am mai adăugat o culoare şi anume Portocaliu, care semnifica lucrarea Duhului Sfânt.

De aceea actualul drapel al Taberei Plopu are 7 culori:

Albastru (creaţia)

Negru (păcatul)

Roşu (jerfa)

Alb (curăţirea)

Portocaliu (lucrarea Duhului Sfânt)

Verde (creşterea)

Galben (răsplătirea)

God created us body, soul and spirit. Therefore, every person has needs related to all of these levels of his personality.
Plopu Camp is a place where we try to live a condensed life for a week.That's why we handle each need.Sport and Entertainment department handles the need for movement and a good shape, things very visible at the age of childhood, adolescence and youth.
Therefore, we do not take these needs as unspiritual, but, let's say, on another side of the biblical study one.
There are three directions where they have to work, before the camp and also during it:
- individual or team sport competitions
- entertaining contests
- programs and interdisciplinary contests
Youth's wish of exceeding and fighting for the team they are part of is well known. If their wishes and energies are well-directed, they will develop corectly and harmoniously.
Even losing a competition helps forming one's personality. Nobody likes losing, but characters are known by the way they accept losing.
This department also gives prizes at the end of the camp. At the 25th edition of Plopu, the team was formed by two girls, one from Ploiesti and the other one from Spain; this is another beautiful story that shows how God suits things.
Laura and Gabriela have made a great job. It seems that, at this department, girls make a better job than boys, because boys, usual objectors of decisions, have more respect for them than for other boys. It's just a personal oppinion.

This department also communicates with the detachments through a respondent.

The Christian Culture and Creation Department [CCC] has got, within the organization vision of the camp, the function of preparing and developing, in the camp's program, the activities that are part of the so called cultural and artistical side.
Why "so called"?
The cultural concerns and also those that exploit the gifts donned by God in us, should be constant. Unfortunatelly, life is so many times down leveled to very low-minded concerns, and we forget that God also gave us a soul, that can't be fed with food.
This department has the obligation to provide items and programs that regards this subject, like the ones connected to music, dramatic art, literature, picture and design, multimedia presentations, etc.
These take shape into competitions but also funky moments during the camp.
At the end of the camp, this department offers honor [as in diploma] and prizes for the best results at contests, or general representation.
In the past several years, this department has been stabile, formed by Rebeca, Cristina, Alin, Ruben, who are close together through many common things.

This department is also connected to the other detachments through a respondent from each squad.

Within the administrative department, the Kitchen operates. It is said that you eat well at Plopu. We believe the same and we're doing what we can to always be that way.

No one has to starve at Plopu, or regret that he's not home because of food.

You eat three times per day at Plopu. You eat cooked food, made just there, just like grandma's times. Members only bring cutlery and they also have to wash them after each meal.

For some of them, that is an initial performance!

The cooks are volunteers, that do this job in the Name of the Lord and for the members' sake.

The work begins before the camp, with the simple provisions: the provision of the tools and making a daily menu.

Futhermore, there's a first supply being made, especially for unalterable food.

The administrative department builds and provides an oven for cooking the food and other necessary things.

The first meal is the opening day dinner.

During the camp, the cooks are helped by the members, by rotation, for preparing and serving the meals.

When we're celebrating some member's birthday, the cooks prepare a special birthday cake.

The work of these cooks is not easy at all, but comes together with the joy of serving.

For some years, the Chef is Alina. She's a member of this camp since she was very young.

As we said, every year the cooking team is completed by other people willing to serve there. Some of them are known before, and others come and simply serve. They also get a badge, which is a visible sign of our appreciation.

The Administrative Department is the one that, even though it is not very visible during the camp, is indispensable for the provision and the assurance of it.
Those who are part of this department have three series of responsabilities:
- general provision about our essential part from Plopu, but also the next edition, provisions that begin long before the camp's time
- the particular provisions and arrangements before the beginning of the camp
There are being prepared resources and utilities for the camp, in order to be ready at the opening of the camp.
- current administrative activities about the camp's evolution, utilities assurement, but also the execution of elements connected to different programs during the camp, like the structure for Thursday.
The steadiness of this team, it's discretion and harmony are some elements that contribute at the camp's success.
In the past few years, this team has had a great core, formed by Adi Lala and Dani Teodorovici, two young men for whom the word serving is not a metaphor.

Once the camp's subject is settled and the graphical pack formed, the real work of organization continues.
This work is accomplished by a team led by a camp director.
The same team that does the provision and organization work will be the one that will lead the activity during the camp.
Plopu has always had several features:
- a simple but efficient structure
- credit to youth, emphasizing character and dedication, before neatness, without replacing it though
- when choosing the organizing team, there's a great area of choises.
Therefore, Plopu's 25th edition had the organizing team formed by youth from about 4 denominations and 4 countries [Austria, Romania, Spania, Ungaria].
Here are the organizing and leading departments of the camp, led by the director of the camp:
- Administration [which includes the Kitchen led by a Chef]
- Christian Culture and Creation
- Sport and Entertainment
- Technical
- Communication

Each of those who are part of the organizing team also have, except for the general obligations of the team, particular obligations.
In the next several weeks, I will present some things about their general and particular obligations.

We live in an age when fight has become a form of existence, personally or collectively.
George Coşbuc wrote these memorable lyrics: "Life’s a fight; so fight!"
People fight for survival, emancipation, honor, sovereignty, power, domination, benefit, vital area, acknowledgement, appreciation, interior and social peace, prizes, truth, love, health, healthy environment, resources, etc. Which is the situation in the spiritual domain?
Is fight necessary? What do we fight for?
Is grace compatible with fight?
What does "the good fight" mean?
Is fight an option or a command, from God’s perspective?
What are the specific forms of this fight?
With what or with whom shall we fight?
We have the example of a man, the apostle Paul, who has advised to fight, who has himself fought and who has ended up his life with the victorious statement that he ended this fight well.
If you’re interested in this subject, and you should be, we’re dearly waiting for you at Plopu!
The theme of this year is “Fight the good fight!" (1 Tim. 6:12). You are invited to read 1 & 2 Timothy!

The camp will take place between 1-8 August. It is a tent camp and the place is Plopu vill [at about 10 km away from Armenis, Caras-Severin].

The camp's schedule is organized in 4 main sections:

- morning devotional [relation and meditation];

- morning program [study and aplication];

- afternoon program [sport and entertainment];

- evening program [challenge and impulse].

Camp fire, games, competitions and especially the time dedicated to God and reading the Scripture, won't be missing from the camp's schedule.

As a youth camp, the age of the members is between 14-30 years old. Those under 14 will need a companion, and those over 30 will need a young heart!

Some of you know that we've entered the last 4 months of our work in Plopu provision for the 26th edition, that will take place between 31 July - 7 August 2010.
At this time, we clarify the next camp's concept. This concept is materialized into many graphical or audio elements...

I have received more and more questions, lately, about the participation terms. Mainly, they are the same as last year, with several changes about the registration procedures.
Because of some organizational and logistic reasons, we have to make a distinction between those who seriously take into consideration the registration procedures and those who take it too lightly.
Therefore, the participation tax will be:

- 160 RON - for those who pay after the 15th of July 2010
- 150 RON - for those who pay between the 1st and the 15th of July 2010
- 140 RON - for those who pay until the 30th of June 2010
The tax may be paid through PayPal, bank account, postal order or directly to those who will handle the registration. The shipping tax will be the participant's responsability, not the organizers'.
The quicker you pay, the more profitable will be for you and in the same time you also ease our organizing work.
For those who can and want to contribute, we're sending a call so that the ones who have financial problems may participate in this year's Plopu camp.

Even this year, we've had winter Plopu, as some call it, or more precisely yfC (youth for Christ).

It was the 10th edition and as yearly, the Lord has been good to us and we had a special time.

The time we spent there was 31.12.2009-03.01.2010, which allowed us to get into the following year while we were there and that was great!
This year’s subject was Fidelity. In other words we could have said Faithfulness, Loyalty…
The book we chose as a study book has been the book of Ruth and the verse that suggests this subject is: “anything but death will separate us” (Ruth 1.17).
It is a present subject where we talked about faithfulness both to God, and friends, husband or wife, ministry entrusted, or job charges.
And if by our nature we can only be faithful to a certain degree, the true power for being faithful comes from God.
God begins to appreciate faithfulness in the small things, before appreciating faithfulness in the big causes, as His Word shows.
Faithfulness is not only an assignment but a constant attitude proved in the every day behavior, that is a style of life.
At this year’s edition, we also had an initial performance. Our grand-daughter, Maia-Rut, less than 3 months old, has been the first child participating at yfC. She’s been a delight for us by her innocence, without giving us any problem.
And if I were to believe in coincidence, I’d say that, that beautiful rainbow which appeared at Plopu in those days has been a significant coincidence, but as you already know, I don’t believe in coincidence!

Plopu 25 - let's fight!

Plopu is a place blessed by God.

Not wanting to chatter, but write something from the bottom of my heart, I can say that I finally understand the verse that talks about the earth as the footstool of His feet. Plopu is a place where God enjoys meeting His children and talking to them.

I'm not good at writing, not to mention the talking, but what I've learned at Plopu deeply touched me. There are unique moments, that you could experience just there.

Plopu 25 has been for me a camp where I made several decisions; decisions to fight, decisions of holding the flag straight up for the Lord, and my flag be white, not a ... dirty white, but a spotless white!

I've learned that there's time for sowing, and time for reaping. I've learned that there's time for fighting, and time for running to the goal. I've learned that, no matter the work I do, I must do it with His guidance and at HIS time!

I've learned about the importance of watching. Right in the camp, I had the oportunity to see several efects of the lack of watching. There've been things that straightly influenced me. There have been people through whom God straightly spoke to me. There have also been people that God used to speak to me through their atitude. I didn't hear any word from them, but I had a great example of life, life of joyful ministry.

I've learned to smile, even when I don't "feel" like doing it, because my smile can encourage someone. I learned that in difficult moments I must act in truth and love, but steadfastly.

For me, Plopu 25 have been a summarization of Plopu 23, Plopu 24 and Plopu 25. Though I haven't been to Plopu 23, I know the subject, and I've seen people applying the things that they've learned there.

I think that in the past 2 years, I've grown more, than in all the years before, spiritually speaking.

God has given me the great oportunity to know faithful people, and I thank Him for this.

I thank God for His sovereignty. I thank God for the care, love, tenderness but also the fermness that uses in my life.

I pray to God so that He'll bless those who answered His call, this of organizing Plopu camp. I pray to God so that He'll bless Mitrut and Alina with wisdom and love!

We're all called to fight, no matter the age, social status or physical condition. May God help us fight for Him. May God help us take the weapons that He has given to us and use them for His glory!

Plopu 24 - First information

God is waiting for us at Plopu with brand new challenges even this year:

- things we must hear

- decisions we must take

- people we must meet

This year, the camp will take place between 2 and 9 August. The theme of the camp this year is "my footprints - Christ's footprints!"
( 1 Cor. 11:1)

One of the most weird excuses of a Christian is this: don't look at me, but look at Christ!

This shows a bad understanding of the mandate received by a believer, who's called to be the ambassador of Christ where he was sent, but also the escape of responsability of labouring for his life to resemble Christ's and his Father's life.

How do you improve your life? How to invest your life in others? How to fulfill your mandate? How to have the courage and authority to say "follow my footprints"?

1 Corinthians shows us a sinfull society, a Church with problems and a believer who has the power and authority to say "follow my footprints"?

This trinominal CITY - CHURCH - BELIEVER will serve us to explore the challenges from outside (from the stronghold), the challenges around us (from the Church) and the challenges inside us (personal challenges).

There are questions, challenges and decisions to take waiting for you at Plopu!

Recently I got some lines from a friend of mine about the beginings of Plopu Ministry.
Read them and think about the gift of Freedom!

The Priceless Gift Of Freedom

Have you ever thought how great and priceless the freedom that we have, to be in a Christian Camp, a conference, even at Church, without being afraid that we are followed by Securitate, is?
In 1987 I was invited by Mitrut to go in a Bible study camp, organized "somewhere in the mountains". I was asked to keep the secret not telling anybody where I'm going - including my close ones - to pack for a whole week out and show up in a secondary railroad station called Teius where I will know the direction we are going to, but not the final destination. The final destination was supposed to be known only when the train was moving. All these strategies to keep the secret, I found that later, were to avoid Securitate to discover us.
Said and done! I've packed with a lot of enthusiasm, after I got the permission from my parents, based on the full their trust in Mitrut, and I headed towards the railroad station. There, I got a ticket to Teregova (a station farther), and on the train I found that we will end our train travel in Armenis. From Armenis we took a non circulated road, because we did not want to be seen by many people, and after 2-3 hours we arrived in Plopu. Over the night other young people together with four Americans, students or graduates of Chicago Wheaton College. They chose to travel in the night in order their car not to be observed by the communist authorities. Even in Plopu we hid the car in the yard of a benevolent neighbour, because of the "informers". Anyway, we had a great camp with about 12 youngsters from Caransebes and Glimboca, selected very carefully by Mitrut. We have studied from the book of Hebrews and learned a lot of things about The Old and The New Covenant. We left with tears of joy, after a week of real fellowship and spiritual growth. But I will never forget the circumstances in which I participated to this "Small Plopu".

Back home again! Not anyhow, but with a lot of joy and experiences with God. We had some very good experiences, but the greatest is to see young people coming to know Christ. There were people who have been in Plopu for the first time and some not for the first time. Some of them came back after several years, for instance Romica Stefanut who came from USA. Plopu is the same, yet so different year after year. And that is the beauty of this camp. There were people of various ages, denominations, educational background, different countries. Yet it was a good family where not the differences mattered but what we had in common.

Remember the time spent in Plopu!

Maybe you hadn't been to Plopu this year or never. If you want to come next year, make the plans and by God’s will you can be there at Plopu 24. We're waiting for you! 'Till then watch some pictures from Plopu 23 and try to imagine how it's been in the camp!

Bible study in Plopu

There are exactly four weeks 'till Plopu 23.
It is the time to deliver more information concerning Plopu schedule.
The main theme, this year, is “truth and love” (2 John 3).
How will bible study be organized and who will take care of that?
In order to be more effective, it will be a change this year.
Thus, the first part of the Bible study will be a presentation of the three letters of John; main ideas.
The lecturer will be Romica Stefănut.
In the second part, you will be in a workshop, on given topics, which will be debated in smaller groups focusing on application.
The coordinators of these workshops are: Romica Stefanut, Valerica Apopi, Adi Lala.

There are six topics:
1. Desire (between legitimate and illegitimate)
2. Behavior (moral and spiritual)
3. Teaching (between relative and absolute)
4. Discernment (to know, to decide, to act)
5. Motivations (sources and resources)
6. Christian faith (in the “balance” truth-love)

A short portrait of the people responsible with that:
Romica Stefănut – doctoral studies at Chicago University
He is experienced in youth ministry. At The Baptist Church in Caransebes he's been a youth leader and then was the leader of a Christian Students Organization in Timisoara.
Before leaving Romania for studies in Canada and United States he participated in the process of founding Vox Domini Church in Timisoara, where he served in teenagers ministry.
Favorite ministry: discipleship.
He is married with Bethany and does not have children yet.
In Plopu he was involved in organizing camps and then he became Camp Director.
This year he’s back again, after many years. He will be the lecturer for John’s letters and will lead a workshop.

Valerică Apopi – missionary
Valerica also was a youth leader – in The Baptist Church in Glimboca. For a period of time he worked at Bible Institute in Caransebes and he published a discipleship manual.
He is the first Director of Christian Camp in Rusca Montana, camp where many young people from Romania and not only passed through.
God called him on the mission field and thus he spent a time in Ghana where he served and God used him.
Favorite ministry: discipleship.
For the moment he’s not married.
He also is from the older generation of Plopu Camp.
He will lead a workshop.

Adi Lala – Director of a primary school, having the main education profile as Social Assistance
He is the present youth leader in ”Holy Trinity” Baptist Church in Caransebes. In his youth years he served in Plopu Camp mainly in the second row. He became dedicated to this ministry at maturity. Thus he became a very effective Administrative Director.
He is married with Lidia and has three children.
Favorite ministry: discipleship.
He will lead a workshop.

I wouldn’t miss the chance to be there with such a people: good believers, professional, inter-cultural and spiritual experience.
I believe God has something to say if He made possible to gather together this team.

Cleaning up!

Plopu, sun and rain, 11 people, work, fun, events: this is the way that June 10, 2007 can be characterized.
We worked, have seen how sister Ana is cutting the grass in the old way, we had a small picnic, and had the satisfaction to see another step being done in Plopu Project!
Some boys even have seen how a calf is coming to life, even helped with their hands as true veterinaries.
I’m glad to see that the number of those coming to work is increasing!

Weekend activity

Saturday’s just the end of the week, not a weekend. Why?
Because we have to continue our work in Plopu: to clean up the place and to prepare it for Plopu 23. A group of young people will do this job.
We will keep you updated!
This year we have to improvise something for the administration of the camp. We've tried to find a large tent, but did not find (or we did not know where to look for). Probably we will set up a wooden structure and cover it and that it is for this year. Please pray for us!

Demolition

As Jeremiah got the instruction: "to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant." (Jeremiah 1:10), we had the same instruction for The Plopu Project.
So we've started the first part. Mixed feelings... On one side the sorrow for an old friend who has to go but saying: "mission accomplished!" On the other side the excitement of starting a process that will help continue this fabulous adventure with God: Plopu ministry.
Jehovah Jireh was faithful and provided all these past years and we are confident that He will provide in the future for the sake of His glory and for His love for people!
We've started this blog to keep you updated with what is going on here.
Pray, come and work, donate!
Be part of the second part of this adventure. Don't expect praise from us, only a kind thank you, but you can be part of something that proved to be God's wisdom: to choose small and insignificant people and spot to redeem, motivate and equip people for the real world with the real battle.
Pray for us: for wisdom, health and resources and from time to time share with us your impressions!
